John Darby, Jr., D.D.S.
Dr. John Darby is a board‑trained periodontist with decades of experience providing comprehensive periodontal and implant care. A Florida native, Dr. Darby is known for his collaborative, restoratively driven approach and his long‑standing commitment to serving patients and referring dentists throughout Marion and Citrus Counties.
Education & Advanced Training
Dr. Darby graduated with honors from the University of Florida before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Emory University School of Dentistry, where he received the prestigious C.V. Mosby Award for Excellence in Operative Dentistry. He completed his specialty residency in Periodontics at the Medical College of Georgia in 1982.
Since entering specialty practice, Dr. Darby has pursued extensive postgraduate education with a focused interest in dental implant therapy. His advanced training includes interactive CT‑based diagnosis and treatment planning, computer‑guided implant surgery, and complex soft‑ and hard‑tissue management for compromised ridges. He began formal implant training at Northwestern University Dental School in 1995 and has completed advanced curricula through the University of Miami School of Medicine, Baylor College of Dentistry, the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Montefiore, and the Nobel Biocare, Pikos, and Misch Implant Institutes.
